What I Do

WHO I AM
ARE YOU...

I'm so glad you found me here! My name is Sybil and I'm a mom to two incredible teenage daughters and a pet mom to one silly dog and two snuggly cats. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and have been living in Seattle, Washington since 2001. While I love the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, it's the water that has stolen my heart. My favorite place in the world is the Oregon Coast, though a warm beach in Mexico comes a close second. One interesting fact about me is that I've snorkeled with whale sharks!

APPROACH

I believe that the foundation of therapeutic work is creating a trusting, compassionate, and empathic relationship with my clients. I strive to create an environment where clients can be fully and authentically themselves and know that they will be safe and supported in processing all aspects of their full humanity. My clients are respected as experts in their own experiences. Therapy looks different for everyone, and my goal is to find the balance between the sometimes challenging and uncomfortable work of transforming your life with moments of joy, laughter, and celebration. I enjoy helping my clients identify ways they can implement changes in their lives that help them achieve their goals. My style is to blend elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Cognitive and Emotional Processing in ways that best support my clients. I emphasize the importance of self-care and self-compassion, encouraging clients to develop healthy coping strategies that support their healing journey beyond the therapy room.

...struggling with anxiety, depression, or a lack of connection with people in your life?

...facing transitions that feel overwhelming? Do you need support gaining understanding or untangling challenging emotions? Transitions can look like being pregnant, giving birth, children getting older and moving out, divorce, new relationships, the death of someone you love, and so much more.

...a teen struggling with school, friends, romantic relationships, your family, or all of the above (and more!)?

...wondering if what you're experiencing in your relationship is abuse? Many years removed from an abusive relationship? Or anywhere in between? I would love to support you in gaining clarity, understanding how to heal from trauma, and moving toward creating the life you deserve: a beautiful, full life that is free from violence. I have extensive experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV) in a wide range of capacities, including 1:1 mental health support, support groups, advocacy, and crisis response.

...experiencing the effects of trauma? This can be trauma from a single event or longer-lasting generational, familial, racial, systemic, and much more. My clinical and educational training has focused heavily on how to recognize trauma symptoms and trauma treatment.

If any of these experiences resonate with you, please reach out and book a session with me. We can figure it out together.

Important to note: I provide LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming care and am continually working towards being culturally humble and providing culturally relevant care.
